At some 3.600 metres in the Andes, in the Choqueyapu River valley, lies La Paz, the administrative capital of Bolivia. Photographed from its southernmost edge, this picture makes a point about the unusual topography of the city showing how the rough mountains vigil upon the city.
Great panorama!

@scotfot: thank you! while it is true that La Paz is better off compared to other capitals of the region, the news that comes to us is not entirely optimistic: continuous practicing of traditional farming techniques such as "slash and burn" cause significant pollution which is indeed noticeable in the spring, that is after September. (The picture was taken in late May).
President Morales is very outspoken about environmental issues attributing global climate changes to the industrial countries, which impact his country notably in the lowlands of the Amazon region. Nonetheless, other areas of Bolivia are heavily polluted by the activities there, such as the region of Potosí in the south where the effects of uncontrollable mining are perceptible or the late Titicaca in northwest where algae, sadly, take over...
Very beautyful and impressive shot

Wow! That is high density living! Never seen a shot of a city like this before - you're right in giving it the title "uniqueness".
